Designer's voice:
In a paradoxically open yet urban context, a project calling on the sense of place and community in the town of Stockport aims to bring together an understanding of a world climate emergency. River Goyt, once home to a diverse wildlife and prosperous greenery adorning its banks, now pushes along the resilient brown trout and masses of polluted water.
A tactful attempt at restoring the balance is driven by the community of the town itself, bringing in the 'Anglers of Stockport' to the heart of the issue, where climate change and climate action become tangible and approachable by the majority. Tracing a promenade through this insightful location creates a journey for the locals to feed their curiosity, acknowledge the problem, and envisage the solution, all though already venerated Sunday activities for the town: fishing, eating, and drinking. It is here where curiosity becomes the mother of inventions, and the solution to one environmental downfall, the first of many restorations to come.
